A strange visit

Oo… the clear glass

Their world looks amazing

I come near

I see my murky reflection

Eager to know their world

I set my mission straight,

For the next day.

Today…

I see a small hole

Peeking through with my beak

I pecked and perched on

The flimsy barrier

‘Tis too hard

For me to break in.

Saving my energy

For the next day,

I flew away.

Today…

‘T was easy

To get my neck through

The gap made yesterday

Something hot

An unusual smell

I get today.

Today is not the day

My mind murmured.

I flew away.

Today…

I easily sneaked my neck through

Some dead insects

A treat for my tummy

I pecked and perched hard

Making a gap

Just enough,

For me to sneak through.

Alas! I hopped in

Strange things

Unusual surroundings

I watch them

Hopping and flying

From one to another

Things, not so alluring

As it appears from the outside

I see the trees

The birds

I flew to see them

Bang! I banged my head

It hurt bad

I can’t get out

I fluttered my wings

But I can’t get out

My heart sunk

Disappointment creeped in

Cursing my over enthusiasm

As it landed me

In hopelessness.

Strange sounds coming near

My heart pounded

Sensing an incoming danger

I panicked

Flying here and there

Hitting against everything

I gasped for precious breath

I am tired

I am hurt.

But luckily the strange creature

Opened the door

I felt the fresh air

I flew out

Relieved from the agony

I relaxed on a branch

Breathing life again

And decided

To never set foot on

Places alluring and strange

Rather to be in familiar places

With familiar beings

Nestling in the trees

And surroundings

So calm and green.

To my surprise,

I realised

The realisation…

That I saw was,

The reflection of my world,

Illusion ‘twas,

The greenery on the other side

As there existed none…
